Do nylon strings or steel strings break more easily?

I have a classical guitar with nylon strings and a string schioccate very soon after I started play. My other string steel, acoustic guitar that 'the VE playing for years has not ever had a snap of the string. This is because of guitar, string, meaning the game it, or strings themselves? (or a combination of all these things?) How can I avoid this in future?

I break steel but never nylon. Tune your guitar a 1/2 step down
