Fretboard notes on Classical guitar in slightly different locations than steel-string acoustic?

I 'm the who thinks to buy a classical guitar to play while I'm living abroad, but I am used to play a sound with strings of steel. I tried some classical guitars in a music immagazzino the other day and it seemed like just a few more notes on the fretboard is in different places on my my normal noise. Is this true or am I just crazy? That would be because the neck of the classical guitar is shorter? Realmente want to learn the Spanish guitar while I 'm way, but I don 't want to leave my guitar in the other country and buy a new only to find out who has had to re-learn half of the songs that I know to play it on a classical guitar. Thank you!

The same the notes chords scales etc are the neck will feel different because it is wider and may be slightly shorter than some steel string will transfer right over.

The notes will all be in the same place relative to the fret board. If the neck is longer then the frets will be further apart, and if shorter, nearer together, but the *notes* made will still be the same at each fret and string (if it’s in tune).

I find if I play a guitar I’m not used to I find it hard to see which fret I’m at, so it may be you just need to get used to it.
